Modern Recess is the SIGMAS activation engine — a free, in-person session built around three beats: mindset, movement, and community.

Hosted at partner gyms. Capped at 30 people. Run by a coach who knows what they’re doing. Designed for hybrid humans who train hard, build harder, and still need somewhere to actually recess.

No subscription. No reps quota. No follower count required. Show up, breathe, work, link up.


II — What Happens

Three Phases. One Hour-Plus.

    Mindset

    15–20 min

    Opening reflection. A Stoic, Taoist, or Zen prompt. Sets the tone for the work. Quiets the noise before the body shows up.

  • 02

    Movement

    ~60 min · Zone 4–6

    Hybrid functional workout. Coached, partnered, intentional. Pushed but not punished — coaches encourage your pace.

  • 03

    Recovery & Play

    Open-ended

    Cold plunge. Stretch. Coffee. Conversation. The recess part. Where SIGMAS becomes a community, not just a brand.

How much does it cost?
Free. No subscription, no signup fee, no upsell on the floor. Show up, do the work.
Where do you host events?
Currently Houston, TX · Orange County, CA · Los Angeles, CA. We’re expanding through the SIGNAL ambassador network — if there’s a host in your city, there will be a Modern Recess.
How hard is the workout?
Roughly Zone 4 to Zone 6 for about an hour, after the mindset session. Coaches encourage your pace. This is about self-mastery and personal excellence — push yourself, do what feels right, leave with something earned.
Do I need to RSVP?
Yes. Modern Recess is capped at ~30 participants per session — we need to plan for the space. RSVP through the city-specific link for your event. You can tag along with a friend day-of if there’s room.
Are there age restrictions?
Minimum age 16 with guardian approval. No upper limit — if you’re training, you’re welcome.
What should I bring?
Training gear. Water. An open mind. Everything else — programming, equipment, recovery setup — is on us and the host gym.
